Newnham St Peter's Church of England Primary School has a Christian foundation which it promotes through its root values of respect, hope, perseverance, forgiveness, friendship and thankfulness. It offers rich opportunities and experiences to all members of the school community so that they can enrich the lives of others.
Newnham St Peter's Church of England Primary School develops a curiosity to question, the confidence to challenge and the resilience to be challenged. By providing the knowledge and tools to succeed and promoting spiritual and moral development, it aims to ignite a lifelong love of learning. It encourages this through collective worship, religious education and the delivery of the whole curriculum.
Roots ~ Growth ~ Flight
The Staff and governors believe that the children of Newnham St Peter's will display high standards of behaviour at all times, and treat others as they would wish to be treated themselves. For this to be realised clear expectations are set out within the schools Behaviour Policy using the terms 'ask', 'tell' and 'send'. Exceptional behaviour is celebrated through whole class 'golden nuggets' and values certificates. Our expectation of behaviour is based on the Golden Rule, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." As referenced in Matthew (7:12) and in many other worldwide faiths.
Our behaviour rules create a harmonious and supportive structure to behaviour in the classroom, playground, on school trips and sporting events as well as setting lifelong behaviour expectations.
We also clearly set out a Behaviour Policy, Anti Bullying and Hate Policy, Equality Objectives and Equality Policy. All teaching staff, teaching assistants, administrative staff and lunchtime supervisors are aware of the contents of these policies so that consistent level of behaviour is expected and encouraged within a culture based on positive relationships.
